The distinction seems simple. On one side, art. On the other, decoration. But this opposition is misleading.
A Historical Separation
In the history of art, images were once tied to space, architecture and use. Only later did they become autonomous. Today, wall decoration is a market. Standardized images that fill a space without transforming it. Yet an image placed in a space acts. It changes perception, volumes and light. “Wall art” exists between these two worlds. But intention makes the difference.
An Editorial Approach
At Beau Edition, images are constructed. Built from archives, research and contemporary production, they take shape as series. They are conceived as framed prints designed as wall art, meant to live within spaces.
Keeping It Simple
We chose not to over-define. To remain direct. If an image holds, if it transforms a space, then the question disappears. If it’s beautiful, it’s beautiful.
Conclusion
The real question is not whether it is art or decoration. But whether the image is right.
